Easy Low-Sodium Pesto

This is a simple, nutritious recipe for serving with any shape of pasta noodle for babies (and the whole family!).

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups basil leaves
  • ¼ cup pine nuts
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions
 

  • In a food processor, combine the basil, garlic, pine nuts, and salt. Pulse until smooth.
  • While the food processor is running, slowly drizzle in the oil until fully incorporated. Enjoy!

Notes

This recipe makes a large batch of pesto. Divide it into smaller portions and freeze for up to 3 months!
Keep in mind that pesto contains pine nuts, another top allergen. If your baby hasn’t been introduced to those before, make sure you aren’t using this recipe for your baby's first wheat exposure, because you should only introduce one new top allergen at a time.
