#13: From Baby to Toddler: Changes to Expect when Feeding

from baby to toddler changes to expect when feeding

In this episode, I’m talking all about the changes that can happen when your little, tiny baby becomes an independent, and sometimes, stubborn toddler. With all of the worry that goes into the start of this food journey with your little one, like what to feed them first or when to start, not a lot of attention gets paid to the transition from baby to toddler. Guess what? Most parents are shocked by the changes that can happen!

I’m going over the developmental, physical, and emotional stages that your toddler will be experiencing, and HOW this is going to affect their eating. I discuss why it is crucial to remember that toddlers are still learning. I’ll chat about how their growth slows, and even about neophobia (you’re probably thinking, “what the heck is that??” – don’t worry, I’ve got you covered). But here’s the real truth bomb – the honeymoon phase is over! If you had a baby that ate literally anything and you’re thinking: “pfft I’ve got this, what’s the big deal, no picky eater for me!”. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but there is a good chance your toddler will throw that dream to the ground, along with everything on their plate.

But seriously, there are so many ways to prepare you for this transition so that you can help your toddler through this, and hopefully, make this just a phase in your journey. So listen in, and remember, don’t be scared of this change, change is good. Your toddler will require different strategies than your baby did, but they will also introduce you to new found, or forgotten, joys on a daily basis. Despite all the jokes out there – toddlerhood is one of the best.
